School Council Award of Merit NOMINATION FORM (PDF Review copy)
The School Council Award of Merit recognizes effective school council practices that have an identifiable impact on supporting student learning and school improvement at the school level, the district level or the provincial level.
Criteria
- The nominated school council must be an ASCA member in good standing.
- The nominated school council exemplifies inspirational practices in one or more of the following areas:
- Establish a process for school council to be involved in the development of the School Education Plan or District Education Plan
- Introduce creative and innovative ways to communicate with parents and the school community
- Develop partnerships encouraging parent engagement to support student learning and school improvement
- Champion a successful initiative that affects student learning and school improvement
- Introduce practices or approaches to retain and/or recruit new school council members
- Embrace inclusive practices for culturally diverse groups in the school community
Guidelines
- This nomination form should include the completed page(s) attached:
- The indicator sheet with specific supporting examples to demonstrate how the school council exemplifies inspirational practices in one or more areas supporting student learning and school improvement , and
- Additional information to further outline details of how this school council’s practices serve as a model for others, and meets the criteria for this award.
*Please note – a maximum of six (6) pages will be accepted (including the form).
- Up to five recipients may be awarded as determined by the selection committee’s review process.
- Nominations must be received in the ASCA office by March 1st to be considered by the review committee and recommended for approval to the ASCA Board of Directors.
- All eligible nominees will be recognized.
- Recipients will be announced at the ASCA Annual Conference. Award presentations will take place in the school community.
