Division School Council Engagement Award NOMINATION FORM (PDF Review copy)

The Division School Council Engagement Award recognizes effective, inclusive, and collaborative system-wide practices that, through the efforts of a division-wide, multi-school council organization of representatives, has an identifiable impact supporting school council efforts to benefit student learning and school division success.

Criteria

  • The nominated School Division must have purchased ASCA membership on behalf of all of their school councils division-wide.
  • The nominated Division exemplifies inspirational practices in one or more of the following areas:
  • The Board of Trustees and Senior Administration highly value the role of school councils and consult with them through a multi school council organization for parental input
  • Encourages collaboration and sharing of best practices with intentional gatherings of representatives from all division school councils
  • Along with the Board of Trustees and Senior Administration, intentional gatherings of representatives from all school councils act as a resource for individual school councils and multi school council organizations
  • Establishes a process for the multi school council organization to be involved in the development of the Division Education Plan
  • Introduces creative and innovative ways to communicate with parents and the school community, and shares the work of the multi school council organization
  • Develops partnerships and/or initiatives that encourage parental engagement to support student learning and division-wide improvement
  • Models practices or approaches to retain and/or recruit new representatives from all school councils

Guidelines

  1. Nominated by a School Division, a member of the multi-school council organization, or a school council
  2. This nomination form must include the completed page(s) attached:
    1. The indicator sheet with specific supporting examples to demonstrate how the school division exemplifies inspirational practices in one or more areas supporting school council efforts to benefit student learning and school division success, and
    2. Letters of support from parent members of the multi-school council organization or a parent from a school council AND the Division to further outline details of how this school division’s practices serve as a model for others, and meets the criteria for this award.

*Please note – a maximum of six (6) pages will be accepted (including the form).

  1. Up to two recipients annually may be awarded as determined by the selection committee’s review process.
  2. Nominations must be received in the ASCA office by March 1st to be considered by the review committee and recommended for approval to the ASCA Board of Directors.
  3. All eligible nominees will be recognized.
  4. Recipients will be announced at the ASCA Annual Conference. Award presentations will be coordinated by the school division and take place at the school division’s office, or another suitable location identified by the school division.
